Welcome, all! If you're here it's probably because I sent you here, but maybe you're here due to your own curiosity. Many have followed my film reviews and have enjoyed their blend of structured criticism and casual flair. For the past several years, these have all been posted on Facebook, with the additional rant here or there. And that's all well and good, but more and more I have gotten the sense that I can be doing more with this and, better yet, the interest is there for more. I have always amused myself with the possibility of a blog or YouTube channel, and now the time has come.

Welcome to Frankly Speaking

Here, I intend to bring that same style of review to a place where they can be organized, easily retrieved and even more easily shared. This is a place where writing can take a life beyond a mere post on a Facebook wall. And with formatting tools and actual website, these discussions can far better embrace their full potential.

What does that look like?

I'm glad you asked - in fact, it looks a lot like that. Exciting, isn't it?

But apart from more of the same reviews you have probably come to know and love, I want to take things up a notch. I want to provide you all with deeper criticism than simple reviews, including more in-depth discussion of films and themes, and some of my own rewrites and directions of scenes or entire movies. I may even post some of my own personal writing. For now, the sky's the limit. This is all still in formation at the moment, so if you have any suggestions, opinions or comments, feel free to float them my way. So, join me, and together we'll see just how far this ship can go.
